Spotify is turning music discovery into a more interactive fan experience with the wider rollout of Music Quiz. Starting October 6, the feature is expanding across 11 countries and includes quizzes for more than 2,000 artists.

How Spotify Music Quiz works

Premium users can access Music Quiz from the Now Playing screen on supported artist tracks. The experience can include music trivia, album-cover reveals and “name that song” challenges using short audio previews from an artist’s catalog.

Spotify says the rollout is beginning in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Nigeria, South Africa and Indonesia for Premium listeners aged 18 and older.

Why this matters for artists

The feature gives artists another engagement surface inside Spotify itself. Instead of discovery ending when a listener presses play, Music Quiz encourages fans to spend more time exploring an artist’s catalog, artwork, milestones and songs.

That can be especially useful for artists with deeper catalogs, because trivia and audio-identification formats naturally surface older material alongside current releases. For newer acts, it also creates a new way for fans to learn the story around the music without leaving the app.

Spotify keeps adding fan-engagement layers

Streaming platforms are increasingly competing on more than access to songs. Interactive features, video, artist messaging and fan tools are becoming part of the product strategy. Music Quiz fits directly into that shift by turning passive listening into participation.
