Netflix has released the official trailer for Heartland, a Nashville-set mystery thriller starring Jessica Chastain as a reclusive country star searching for her missing niece.
‘Heartland’ arrives on Netflix November 13
The film begins streaming on November 13, 2026. Chastain plays Misty Jones, a former country megastar who returns to Nashville after her 22-year-old niece Charlie Heart disappears. Charlie is played by real-life country singer-songwriter Carter Faith.
The cast also includes Garrett Hedlund, Ross Lynch, Jennifer Nettles and John Hawkes. Shana Feste, who previously wrote and directed Country Strong, writes and directs the film.
Original music is central to the film
Netflix says Carter Faith recorded new music for the original soundtrack, while Chastain performs her own singing in the film. The trailer also previews a performance of the title song “Heartland” by Chastain’s character and Jennifer Nettles’ Winnie Jo Lean.
The soundtrack includes original performances by the cast alongside music connected to artists including Margo Price, Carly Pearce, Eddy Dunlap and Channing Wilson.
Why music-driven films matter to artist discovery
Music-heavy film and television projects can create discovery moments that sit outside the normal DSP playlist cycle. When original songs are tied closely to characters and story, audiences often encounter the music first through a scene, trailer or soundtrack rather than through a traditional single campaign.
For country music in particular, Heartland gives Netflix a project where Nashville’s music culture is part of the narrative rather than simply background texture. That creates multiple promotional lanes across film, soundtrack, artist profiles and streaming playlists.
