YouTube Music is preparing a broader push into conversational discovery. The platform has announced updates to Ask Music alongside a new personalized podcast lineup for Music and Premium subscribers, with both features planned for worldwide availability.

Ask Music moves beyond passive recommendations

Ask Music is designed to let listeners interact with YouTube Music’s catalog conversationally. Rather than relying only on passive listening history, users can use the experience to customize a queue or explore information around artists and music. YouTube says the experience spans a catalog of more than 300 million songs and other music formats, including official recordings, remixes, covers, live performances and DJ sets.

A weekly AI guide for podcasts

YouTube is also introducing a personalized podcast lineup: an AI-generated spoken preview that highlights recommended shows and explains why they may be relevant before moving into suggested episodes. The idea is to make podcast discovery easier when a listener is not actively browsing a screen.

Why this matters for artists

Discovery interfaces are becoming more active. Instead of an algorithm simply deciding what appears next, conversational tools can let listeners describe what they want. For artists and labels, that may make accurate metadata, catalog context and a strong presence across multiple content formats even more important.

YouTube said users discovered an artist new to them more than 450 million times in July 2026. As conversational discovery expands, the route between a listener’s intent and an artist’s catalog could become increasingly direct.
